Philanthropie Outaouais and RBC Foundation Announce Grant of $15,000 to La Maison des jeunes du Pontiac
[Shawville, QC] — Philanthropie Outaouais and RBC Foundation are providing a grant of $15,000 to support a youth-led project to improve employment opportunities and empower youth, keeping them off the streets. The official announcement has been made to the MDJ participants, creating a wave of joy and hope for the participants.
“It’s so exciting to get the support to help our youth here in the Pontiac. We know they have great potential, and we know they want to work and contribute to a stronger and better Pontiac. Many families will benefit from this project, where our youth leaders will learn to build social animation programs, deliver them, and become positive examples in this community. Thank you to Philanthropie Outaouais and RBC Foundation for recognizing the impact young leaders can make.” says Desiree Tremblay.
As a part of the RBC Future Launch Community Challenge, grants like this one are being made to youth-led projects in 150 small and medium sized communities across Canada. The goal of the program is to shift the power to young leaders making positive social or environmental change in their communities, while gaining valuable skills and experience.
“Young people are not future leaders — they are leading social and environmental change right now. We are honoured to play a role in the bold change that youth are leading across the country through this national initiative with RBC,” says Andrew Chunilall, CEO of Community Foundations of Canada.
“RBC is committed to the power, vision and potential of youth, and the important role they play in their communities,” says Michel Béland, Vice-President, Northwest Quebec, RBC. “We are thrilled to see the results of this important partnership with the CFC helping make a difference in communities across Canada and mostly here in Pontiac”.
